Arizona Trip

Purpose:

When mom had taken me along with her down to Phoenix around 2018 I fell seriously in love with the desert and the spirit of modern Southwest America. This trip wasn't trying to capture that feeling again per se, but it was very much a motivating factor. What is tragic is that I was not able to replicate the feel, and worse yet I came to be saddened by how much of this land has been raked, raped, and ravanged in only the last 100 years. There was a vibe though and I did get something pleasant out of it, but I don't think I will tell exactly what and will probably clutch these pearls.

Route:

Day 1 (1/3/2022)

We landed in Phoenix at 7 am. Checked into the Graduate hotel and picked up a rental car. We then got camping supplies at REI (cooking gas) and got food stuff at Fred Meyer. After such a busy day me and Karl went to bed at 7 or 8pm.

Day 2 (1/4/2022)

We started our day at 7 am and checked out of the Graduate hotel. We drove over to Saguaro Lake and met up with Meiping and did some hiking around the lake. We then moseyed our way down to Lost Dutchman State Park and hiked on the Siphon Draw trail, we made it up about halfway to Ironview and then decided to turn back. We arrived back at camp and puttered around until it got dark. I was able to get some nice photos around this time.
